Today, myself and a friend where talking about different businesses across Nigeria and he mentioned one that strucked my mind if it may be good or not. I can not answer if this business will really make sense or not.

I believe that there are some fruits in southern part of Nigeria that are very cheap but are scare in the northern part of Nigeria. Though, I know fruits business is seasonal business. One can only do this type of business why the season comes.

Some fruits like cherry, mangoes, cashew, banana, lemon, avocado pears and many more are not usually grown or planted in the north, so how can some be exporting those fruits in their seasons to the north?
Another, thing I don't know and am not sure of is that is it lucrative? Will some one make money from it as long as the means of transporting it there is solved?

Moreso, since fruits are perishable goods, how can some one preserve it till one get to the destination?

Please, your response will be appreciated. Thanks.

Fruits business is profitable, with the people have seen that are doing it, I think they are doing great with the business, especially if they mix all the fruits together and sell.

However, transporting fruits to the north business, I think its something you may want to re-access before doing..... Because I don't really think the northern people fancy so much fruits. I have been there and I spent so much time there. I believe they do more of vegetables than fruits....I can vouch for Orange because they take orange and it's markets comes mostly during fasting. So.....!

It may be a profitable business even in some southern part of Nigeria than the northern part of Nigeria. Fruits and other things are relatively cheaper in the northern part compare to the southern part which means the fruit business may still not be appreciated over there. Besides, the insecurity level as at now can be an hindrance. Why don't you think of supplying fruit companies?

Thank you for the advice. That is why it is good to always ask questions before embarking on any business or investment. I never new the northerners do not really fancy fruits before. Now, with the eye opening you just gave me. I now understand that fruits business may not be as lucrative as I thought before. I do appreciate your contribution.

Hnnm.. That's a great point you have here. Of a truth, doing business in any part of the northern Nigeria may be difficult and scary because of the insurgency and so many happenings over there right now. Your suggestion about supplying fryits companies is also a good suggestion which I will look into as soon as possible. Thanks.

Transporting business to northern area is very lucrative , I think there are different method of transportation you could make use of when sending the fruits to the northern region , for example you could make use of train which is very fast and that's what many adopts for perishable items
