Every day I read on social media or watch a video of somebody telling entrepreneurs what they "should" be doing so as to form tons of cash in their business. I cringe whenever I see these bold statements of fact. Because they rarely are true for everybody.
So today, I'm sharing 3 of those online business fairy tales that require to be busted wide open!

Fairy Tale #1 SINGLE-PAGE WEBSITES OR LANDING PAGES WILL GET YOU A SIX-FIGURE INCOME
The Busted Truth: Maybe true... perhaps if you spend several thousands of selling dollars to continuously promote them. And if the ads aren't done right or the landing page isn't perfect, you will not get conversions and you will be out of tons of your time, effort, and money. This model isn't sustainable. It's feast or famine and only works when your marketing engine is revved high, and you've got an outsized following who will buy anything you come up with because you're just that good. This tactic won't get you to the place of running a business. It's simply a tactic the 'gurus' used to urge you to believe that landing pages and single-page websites will grow your business.

Fairy Tale #2 YOU'LL GET TO the highest OF THE SEARCH ENGINES, GUARANTEED!
The Busted Truth: Nope, never believe anyone who promises you this. It's something nobody should promise because nobody knows what the Google algorithms are that make a site get up to the highest (except, of course, for Google employees themselves). The people that are making those promises are desperate for your business and can tell you anything to urge a purchase. Would you be doing business with anyone who doesn't include their business name or telephone number in their correspondence? They think you've got 'sucker' written across your forehead and you're easy prey for his or her false promises. If they were so good at SEO, then they might have droves of qualified traffic getting to their website. They'd be so busy they might never get to cold call or cold email you with those fake promises to start with! SEO is complex and it's hard finding people that actually know what they're doing. The best thing to try to do is to vet the people you're considering hiring. invite referrals and speak with their happy clients to urge an honest sense of the integrity of that person or agency.

Fairy Tale #3 SAVE YOUR MONEY ON an upscale WEBSITE - ANYONE CAN BUILD A SITE NOWADAYS!
The Busted Truth: Sorry but... knowing the way to use a calculator doesn't cause you to be a mathematician. Meaning, simply because someone (or you) knows the way to install a WordPress theme, doesn't make them a professional website developer. There's such a lot more to making an internet site that will get you the sales and conversions you would like and wish for than simply installing a WordPress theme, changing out the colors and photos, and calling it each day. Namely, your website must address these critical components: brand design, user experience, layout elements, copywriting and brand messaging, and SEO. Each of those areas requires an expert who understands them so as to deliver you an internet site that gets you the results you would like. And if you think that fixing a third-party (cheap) website like WIX or Weebly will do the trick, not really. they're horrible with SEO, and more importantly, you do not own your website with them! you'll find yourself paying more at the end of the day than if you had built a correct website to start with. The moral of this fairy tale story? Hire a full-service agency that has all of these experts working for you as a team, and you'll get way further ahead than if you are trying to travel a budget route.
