Mining activities: are the processes of extracting minerals and other materials from the earth. There are seven main mining activities: prospecting, exploration, development, extraction, processing, reclamation and closure.
Prospecting: is the process of searching for mineral deposits in an area. While Exploration involves gathering data about potential sites to determine if they contain valuable resources that can be mined economically.
Development: includes constructing access roads or tunnels to reach a deposit as well as building infrastructure such as power lines and pipelines needed for operations.
Extraction: is when miners actually remove ore from underground mines or surface quarries using heavy machinery like drills and bulldozers.
Processing: involves separating useful minerals from waste material by crushing it into smaller pieces before being sent offsite for further refinement.
Reclamation: is restoring land disturbed during mining back to its original condition while Closure refers to shutting down all operations at a mine site once all resources have been extracted safely with minimal environmental impact left behind afterwards
