The Cardano Foundation has announced the launch of a new project in conjunction with EMURGO, the Cardano blockchain's commercial arm, to promote third-party smart contract development.

According to its official account, the two companies' work and resources will be combined to produce a tool stack that will assist the Cardano ecosystem and expedite decentralized application development.

MVP1 and MVP2 will be the two phases of the project. Five Binaries, a business that specializes in infrastructure development, will create a modular tool stack for MVP1. In the second stage, MVP2, the Cardano Foundation intends to reach out to other projects and collaborators from across the ecosystem and openly ask them to contribute to the project.

Cardano sees the creation of a second application backend for its ecosystem as critical, as it will broaden the range of alternatives available to developers when creating Cardano solutions. Third-party developers may be able to create a range of apps as a result of this change, as well as meet industry standards for smart contract-based infrastructure.

"The development of this tool stack, in conjunction with EMURGO, will further enable a dynamic, inclusive environment for third-party smart contract development on Cardano," said Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, a non-profit that supervises advancements on the Cardano network.
