The small space in most balconies imposes limits on the layout. Often, outdoor furniture can consist of at most two chairs and a small table. Alternatively, single-seat benches and swings are popular.

In this context, the decorations are what make the difference between an ordinary balcony and one where you want to drink your coffee every morning. Whether you want to get a dynamic and minimalist balcony, or you prefer a relaxing and lush one, you need the right decorations. Therefore, start by choosing a style and mood for your balcony. This will help you get a uniform and consistent look, but also easier to choose decorations that complement each other excellently. Here are some types of decorations to include in your balcony design:

1. Plants, plants and plants again.

It's no secret that the most beautiful balconies have at least a few plants, and we should not limit ourselves to natural plants. The artificial ones do not need care, they last regardless of the weather and they look more and more convincing. Here are some examples of decorative artificial plants that you can include in your balcony: - Ivy, climbing plants, decorative vines and garlands - Ficus (ficus benjamina, ficus robusta) - Palm - Natural bamboo - Flowering plants (orchids, bird of paradise, coffee tree)

2. Lights.

Romantic, modern, chic or hippy - it's impossible not to find lighting fixtures that you love. Before style and design, however, you need to look practical. If the balcony is open, you should limit yourself to water-resistant outdoor lighting. In general, you can opt for wall lanterns, light spots, LED strips and, if the design of the balcony allows you, even chandeliers. Of course, there are some more unique solutions that give a unique character to your balcony. For example, you can opt for a set of scented candles, a creative light fixture or a DIY lamp.

3. A generous awning or umbrella

Why reserve the use of the balcony only in sunny weather? It can be very enjoyable to spend time in the cool, fresh air during a summer rain. To be able to sit quietly on the balcony, you can opt for a fixed or retractable awning. If you don't want to cover the whole balcony, you have another solution at hand: the balcony umbrella. There are many models of outdoor umbrellas, both for terraces and balconies. You can opt for a simple, red umbrella, in a balcony with light shades and a lot of white, to get a modern, elegant and minimalist style. If you prefer to create a relaxed holiday atmosphere, don't shy away from colors. Instead, avoid metals and plastic and opt for a wooden structure.

4. Fluffy pillows

Pillows are associated with relaxation and comfort, so they can make your balcony more welcoming and inviting. You can opt for small pillows, if you have chairs, swings or benches on the balcony. Otherwise, you could even add one or more floor cushions. In terms of colors, opt for vibrant, brightly colored patterns or prints that accentuate the style of your balcony.

5. A colored carpet

It is somewhat unusual to add a rug to the balcony, especially if it is open. However, it can have a significant impact. Through color and texture, it can bind the space, making your balcony look like in magazines. In fact, many of the balconies arranged by interior design specialists also have carpets. If you want more comfort and color on the balcony, then make sure you choose an outdoor rug, designed to withstand the inclement weather.
