Car'diac Arrest: Causes and prevention

What is cardiac arrest: cardiac arrest happens when the heart stops functioning for sometime thereby causing loss of breath and heart attack. The heart function as a machine, it pumps blood which is distributed all over the body, when the heart stops functioning, every other parts of the body stops functioning since there is no longer distribution of blood.

What causes cardiac arrest: cardiac arrest is caused by various factors, most of which are heart attack, severe electric shock and a near drown experience. When this occurs, the heart stops beating and they stop breathing. Patients with cardiac arrest needs medical emergency and treatments in order to avoid loss of life.

What can be done to prevent cardiac arrest:

some of the ways you can prevent cardiac arrest is by having a regular exercise of 20 to 30 minutes a day, eating a dietary meal can also reduce the risks of cardiac arrest, never swim alone without a companion. The leading cause of cardiac arrest is getting drowned, you might want to avoid swimming alone in the pool or beach. Smoking can also increase your chances of having cardiac arrest, you should avoid or reduce smoking. Smoking has been linked to various lung and heart issues and has killed a lot of people over the years.

What is car'diac arrest?
Car'diac arrest is a sudden loss of blood flow resulting from the failure of the heart to contract effectively. Symptoms include loss of consciousness and abnormal or absent breathing. If not treated within minutes, it typically leads to death.

The most common cause of cardiac arrest is having a heart attack, also known as a coronary thrombosis. This occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) obstructs one or more of the arteries that supply oxygenated blood to the heart muscle. Less commonly, cardiac arrest can be caused by other cardiovascular problems, such as an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia), fluid buildup in the lungs (pulmonary edema), or pulmonary embolism—a blockage in one of the arteries in the lungs.
Cardiac arrest can also be caused by anything that disturbs the heart's electrical system, which regulates normal heart rhythm. Cardiac arrest caused by disrupted electrical activity is called arrhythmic cardiac arrest. Some causes of sudden cardiac arrest include:

- Abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) readings, which are seen on an electrocardiogram "monitor strip"

- Ventricular fibrillation (VF).
You should consult your doctor if you having high bp and constant discomfort in your chest region.
