In our business culture the payday is usually in the middle of the month which is the 15th day and the next payday is at the end of the month (can be 30th or 31st). When I was hired by a bank for my first job I was surprised that the payday is 1 day ahead. The reason is that the bank is very busy on payday as it handles the payroll of the client companies so our own payroll should not add to the burden.
Come to think of it that I have money a day before the actual payday. It somehow gave me confidence. The early payday gave me a reason to be happy even for 1 day in knowing that my friends and other people are still in wait for their salary while mine is already in my pocket. That little benefit from my employer is big deal to us employees.
