In order to explore a career in the nonprofit sector you need to first identify your passions and values, then research nonprofit organizations, volunteer and intern, network within the nonprofit community, develop relevant skills, explore different roles within the sector, consider furthering education in relation to social entrepreneurship, stay informed about industry trends that affect their organizations or companies of choice and finally search for job opportunities. Non-profits are mostly focused on either society, environment or cultural issues and are known to be key drivers of change in communities. To find a job look at online job boards as well as nonprofit specific websites and individual organization’s websites. Be flexible and open-minded since roles may change over time. When applying for positions show how much you care for the issue you want to address through such work. Through combining your skills with passion it is possible to bring about positive change not only in the community but also across the globe.
