What is Financial Management?

At its core, financial management is the practice of making a business plan and then ensuring all departments stay on track. Solid financial management enables the CFO or VP of finance to provide data that supports creation of a long-range vision, informs decisions on where to invest, and yields insights on how to fund those investments, liquidity, profitability, cash runway and more.

Your explanation on financial management is good as It covers those key concept about what to look out for when considering what financial management is all about. Financial management touches the basis of money and all things surrounding its purchasing powers. As a financial manager you are in the position to getting all the required information as regards how and where money should be spent, and to how put into serious consideration the time value of money and the profitability index of what a return on an investment can be. One must be very good in making forecasts on what project should be taken and discarded through financial analysis.

When it comes to managing the finance, not everyone is trained expertly on that. The culture of managing the finance to me is in-born. You can't even get it at the college institution. Not every one that went to school to study business management/financial management were able to manage their finances after school. Some simple read it for formality sake, simply to bear the certificate of a graduate. Whereas others didn't go anywhere, but they are managing their finance the best possible way they can. It depends on individual, and the mindset he or she has towards managing finance.
