Handyman General Liability Insurance

There are really only two primary means for an independent contractor to obtain General Liability Insurance policy protection: he can add you as an extra insured to his current General Liability Policy. An additional covered can get less coverage than the primary policyholder, but generally you still have very important coverage, like:

Bodily Injury. This covers any physical harm that may be inflicted on a client by a contractor. It is very important for workers in this field to have the right protection and it's particularly important for low risk operators. The general liability insurance will cover accidents that may happen during regular day-to-day activities. This includes anything from a person falling while moving stuff at work, to a person getting hit by a piece of equipment.

Personal Injury. This is a narrower version of bodily injury, and this coverage will protect you if you get hurt while operating a commercial vehicle, whether on or off the job. This protects you in situations such as being hit by a customer's car while waiting in line at the grocery store, or being injured when working on a building site.

Property Damage.
This is another narrow aspect of bodily injury and property damage coverage protects you if a product you've used damages your property. This includes damage caused by a wind-borne object, or by a flying object. It also covers legal fees, which are separate from the premiums. Basically, if you have a legal fee that totals more than your general liability insurance, then this will be covered by your policy.

Commercial Vehicle Insurance. This portion of the general liability insurance will cover any claim you have for damages to a commercial vehicle. These could include injuries caused by a customer's car while in your shop, or by a delivery service truck that dropped off a package, or anything else that occurs on your premises. It will also cover any damages you have to your business property, such as office furniture. If there are a lot of lawsuits filed because of customer's injuries or property damage, this will be covered by this portion of your policy.

The handyman general liability policy is typically limited to three incidents. If you have multiple employees, each of them can file a claim for personal and property damage, as long as those employees have the proper training. However, if an employee causes bodily injury or property damage in one place, it will only be the duty of the general liability insurance company to handle the claims history. Claims history information will be kept on file in the company's records for a certain amount of time, depending on the insurance company policy. This information will be required when you apply for a new general liability policy with the company.

Although I can’t really say much about this because I am certainly not an expert in this area or aspect but I believe it should be able to be purchased by anyone as long as you have all the necessary requirements so be it an handyman or not shouldn’t be an obstacle
