Whether you want to work in a company or become a freelancer, you need skills. You are hired for the skills you have. Skills mean your ability to do something. How skillful you are will determine how successful you will become. When you are trying to learn a skill, you need to focus on two things, one, the potential to make money, and two, your interest in the particular skills. I once wanted to become a graphic designer because graphic designing was a very lucrative career, however, when I started learning graphic designing, I could not master the skills because I was not very interested in the field. Therefore, your interest in a particular field also determines your professional success. For example, you do photoshop but if you are not interested in graphic designing, you cannot become a successful graphic designer. I have some photoshop skills. Just because I have photoshop skills does not help me to become a graphic designer because I am not very passionate about graphic designing. Do you think you should choose a freelancing niche just because you are skilled in that particular area? Well, not exactly, you should also be very interested in that field.

This is very good advice. It is indeed so very wise to choose a good niche when getting into freelancing. It helps a lot in preventing you from jumping from one thing to another such that you become a junk of all and a master of none. Choosing a niche enables you to be a professional in that which you choose to do.

You can choose the niche based on your hobbies. You know, those things that you love doing a lot during your free time. Maybe you love drawing and creating art a lot. Such a love in creativity will land you a good graphic designing freelancing career.

If you love writing your own opinions about things you observe around you or things you learn in life, you can be a great article writer. You could also be just writing out of fantasy or things you imagine. This can make you a great short stories writer or you can create ebooks.
