Then, start calling around to see if anyone is offering those types of apartments at lower rates than they usually do.
If none of those options work out for whatever reason (like the rent is too high), then try searching online instead! Use Google Maps or something similar so that you can easily zoom in on each specific area and see which ones have higher-priced apartments available for rent within walking distance from where you live now. You can also look into finding apartments near public transportation stops.
