Some employees can be very knowledgeable, innovative and brilliant but lazy. This is a serious challenge and can affect the business on a negative way. These employees if only they can be hardworking will help the business grow in better ways and the business will indeed be a successful one.
What can be done about these kind of employees? Some business owners are faced with this challenge and keep looking for the best ways to solve this issue.
What's your take on this? How can this be resolved?

Well I want to believe every job position has a job description and all those job responsibility would have been clearly spelt out during the recruitment process for the incoming employees to understand exactly what they are about to embark on. Then in many cases there is always an initial training that every member of staff has to undergo before they can commence work at all, the training last from somewhere between one week to Maybe three months depending on the type of job the role the employee is about to embark on. And in most cases too there is what call learning on the job, there is still on the job training. So all these are avenue for the employee to better equip themselves to brace up for their job role they have been offered to occupy. But if after all these the employee is still showing some form of laxity towards work and his or her duties. Then management would be left with little or no choice then to let such employee to go as it shows that they are not interested in working irrespective of the workers level of intellectual capabilities. That alone can not translate to productivity.

This is a very sensitive issue and wisdom must be applied by a leader or Manager to get good results. Handling a lazy but brilliant employee at work is like a two-faced coin. If the recruitment and selection process was done without bias and the candidate was chosen, then the internal organization should be rechecked. The employee might be lacking some sort of motivation which could be from; poor working conditions, low pay at work, lack of promotion, long working hours and lack of fringe benefits or compensation." All these factors and more should be ascertained to know where the challenge emanates because when once an employee or employees sense inequity in any form, they will definitely look for ways to make it equitable for them. They might not be able to confront their superior or boss, but they will change the level of their hard work by cognitive distortion to rhyme or tally with the output or incentives in which they are paid. For an employee who is creative and innovative, he or she will not want to waste his creativity in an organization that does not compensate their staff, he might still be working with the company or business, but he definitely has plans going on in his head to offer his services to a more reputable firm.
