Improving the worklife balance between startups and their workers

If you're an ambitious founder with a close-knit team, it may feel like your responsibility to be at the office 24/7 and all hours of the day. But doing so can lead to burnout, which not only affects you but also has consequences for your employees. As such, there are a few ways that founders can improve their work-life balance without endangering their business:

Take as much time as needed on your own - One should always be careful not to let any interest or hobby interfere with one's duties in everyday life. This includes caring for oneself or maintaining relationships that may otherwise wither away during one's obsessive pursuit of success in one's chosen field.
With this in mind, sometimes a bit of self-care is necessary to avoid letting work overwhelm one. Take a short break at night for dinner or reading a book or have a midday vacation on Fridays to relax and recharge.
Set aside an hour or two in the day for your employees - Whether you're at the office or otherwise occupied, try spending time with your team. This may be as simple as lunching with an employee and having an in-person conversation about their week (or simply providing some kind of recognition) or as complex as evaluating how you and your organization can improve together.
