Protein is one of the main nutrients in food, alongside carbohydrates and fat. Protein is made of amino acids, which are organic compounds that combine to form chains. These chains then fold into structures called proteins.

In addition to being an essential nutrient for all living things, protein—along with its component amino acids—is important to the function of cells and organs. Protein also plays an important role as part of the immune system, antibodies, enzymes, and hormones.

In order to get enough protein in your diet, you need to eat a variety of foods each day that contain protein. Some meat products do contain protein, but so do many other food groups including dairy products, nuts and beans.

Proteins are an essential nutrient for the human body. Acting as a building block for body tissue and cells, they can serve as a fuel source - containing 4 Calories per gram (the same as carbohydrates). The seven amino acids your body cannot produce in sufficient amounts are referred to as essential amino acids. The six essential fatty acids are linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, arachidonic acid, and gamma-linolenic acid. Animal proteins such as meats, milk and eggs have all the essential amino acids in abundance; plant proteins may be low or missing one or more of the seven. It’s important to choose healthy protein sources to minimize intake of saturated fat and cholesterol.

Thank you for the enlightenment . I also understand protein to be among one of the most important nutrient that is needed in the body most especially for children for effective growth and body development , it has a lot of numerous uses . Protein is also needed to repair the body tissue and to help in muscle development , that is why people who are interested to gain muscle are always advised to take in food that is high in protein.

Although protein may be very importance in the body but it is not what we are to eat all the time because when it is also too much it may not actually be the best and as such we are to try as much as possible to eat a balanced diet. Balanced diet should not really contain too much fat because fat is not really needed in the body anymore .

Fruit and vegetables can also supply all the necessary nutrients that is needed to keep the body in good condition, fruit really helps in supplying the body with Rich vitamins and some natural elements that could prevent the development of certain disease or infection in the body and help boost the immune system.
