Road traffic and it's effect on economy

Have ever experienced a heavy road traffic that lasted for hours. Sometimes the cause of the traffic are unknown, it's usually happens around a busy junctions, bus stop terminals or ever at a bad spot on the motor way or even cause by people celebrating one thing or other on major roads depending the part ot the world you live.
During this kind of heavy and confused road traffic, alot of activities both social economical and religion are put to a hold.
This causes losses in economy sector, those going for business meeting are tripped, all levels of business activities are affected. By the end huge amount of money are lost. What you think will be the best way to avoid economy lost due to road traffic

Road traffics are really a a nightmare, here in Nigeria, road traffic has become a norms, when people want to go out or plan a party, picnic they must account for time of traffic holdup because it is very rampant and people that work faraway from there houses have to always go out early and come back home very late just because of traffic.

Many things have been done about it but it still proves abortive, there are many tankers, trucks and heavy machineries on the road hence congesting the road and causing mayhem on the road, I really can't wait for government to get to the bottom of this.
