Different people have different opinions. In Ayurveda, consumption of milk in night is suggested. And they also ask us to not have milk or milk tea and coffee with any salty food or non veg except for eggs. Milk is to be avoided with most of the fruits especially citrus ones. Milk has always been considered a complete food as it is loaded with enough nutritions. But in recent times we have seen that the benefits of milk and dairy products are being questioned. In fact many research have shown that consumption of milk does more harm than good. And this all can be attributed to the way cows are reared and milk is produced..We are using inorganic ways to increase ths production of milk and most of them come with research that shows bad effects on our health in long run. Milk produced in a natural ethical way or in other words a pure organic milk is full of goodness. But the same can not be said about the milk produced commercially on such large scales. The use of hormonal injections to the cows and milking the cows while they are pregnant or feeding their calves after first few weeks of delivery is not supposed to be good. The milk produced during such time and the use of hormones can have adverse effects on health. Recently it has been found that excessive growth hormones can cause serious diseases. Milk consumption has also been shown to increase insulin resistance and cause diabetes. So, a lot importance has been recently given to go lactose free and away from dairy products for health use.

Milk is a good source of vitamins and minerals, including several nutrients that many people don't get enough of. It contains potassium, vitamin B12, calcium, and vitamin D, all of which are deficient in many diets. Vitamin A, magnesium, zinc, and thiamine are all found in milk ( B1). It also contains hundreds of different fatty acids, including conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3s, and is a good source of protein.
