Video Creation: Showing Your Face Vs. Not Showing Your Face

You can make videos in two ways, one, by talking in front of the camera, two, shooting something and talking in the background. Between these two what kind of content gets better traction?

Showing face can be good for those who are camera friendly, but when you talk to the camera you might also miss essential information (because you will have to memorize before you speak. Editing video can be really hard when you shoot yourself.

When you talk in the background, you might provide all information but you will miss eye contact with the audience and the also lose some authenticity related to the information (people tend to engage more when the content creator is present in the video)

In my opinion, whether you should show your face or not should depend on the type of content. If your video is a tutorial, not showing your face can be better, but if you are sharing idea, showing your face can be better.

Some content creators believe that when you don’t show your face you are more focused on the information you are providing. Whereas some content creators believe that when you show your face, it will add more authenticity to the information or tips you are giving. As a consumer, I believe showing your face or not showing your face should depend on the type of content. Imagine you are streaming your game play, you will have to show your face or the game you are playing. You don't have to really your face, do you? Let's take another example. Imagine, your video is a photoshop tutorial, what do you need to show? Your face or the things you are doing? On the other hand, if you are giving information on something, for example, 5 products to sell online, talking to your audience will give you more value than just talking in the background.
