As an insured or a policyholder for any insurance policy you would be expected to pay premium and the health insurance isn't left out.

So a health insurance premium is an upfront payment paid by a health insurance policyholder to an insurer to keep the health insurance policy active. when you carry out a policy you need to find out if you are to make monthly pay or otherwise to the insurance company.

For health insurance Premiums you would have to pay monthly as an individual but if you a company worker one can have health insurance through the employer. This simply means that you can have your pay of the premium through payroll deductions.

For health insurance it isn't only premium that you are only expected to pay. In addition to the premium you would be paying you would also pay what are termed out-of-pocket costs which are deductibles, copays, and coinsurance . This comes when you want medical care.

So you might have a Health plan with higher premiums but you might get lower out-of-pocket expenses.

The good thing about health insurance plan is that If you're not eligible for medical insurance via work, then you should qualify for the government-subsidized one as a citizen of that country.
