If your small business is still just a dream, put it on the Internet! It's an easy, fast way to research and plan. Plus, you'll get expert advice from someone who has likely done what you want to do - set up a successful online business. You can even get a free consultation with one of our consultants. When it comes right down to it, there isn't any risk in getting started with internet marketing. To begin setting up your own online business, here are some easy steps:
The steps to get started with internet marketing
1. Select Your Business Category – What kind of business are you setting up? Is it a gift shop, an online magazine, or an online auction house? (Hint: If your business has a catalog or is selling a product directly to customers, you should use the e-commerce category.)
2. Select Your Web Site Host – Do you already own your own web site and just need hosting for it? Or do you need help from someone who will design and build your web site from scratch? If you need help with creating and building your web site, there are hundreds of web hosts from which to choose. If you already own a web site, you'll want to learn how to choose a web host.
3. Choose Your Domain Name – This is where you'll enter your name or company name and submit the registration request for your domain name. After registering your domain, you may have to create a password so visitors can access it. In most cases, you can register domains through the same search engines that provide website addresses, such as Yahoo or Google.
4. Choose Your Content Management System (CMS) – What do we mean by CMS? The CMS is what will allow you to administer your web site's content or information and express structured information in HTML or XML files.
