One of the things that affect an organisation is promotion of staff. Different companies have different modalities that they use to promote staff. Some base it on ability, some base it on seniority. Let's look at why promoting staff by seniority would be beneficial to a company or organisation.

1) It encourages loyalty: When staff in an organisation know that if they stay for a longer time, they would be rewarded with a managerial position in the long run, it would encourage the staff to stay in the organisation.

2) It promotes stability: When staff are promoted strictly based on seniority, the organisation would be stable as there is less chance of rancour and infighting because of staff promotion.

Do you think that seniority should be a basis for promoting staff?

When you consider promoting staff based on their seniority, I would say it fosters loyalty and motivation amongst them. Individuals serving for a long time have institutional knowledge, and improve the stability of the organization. It would boost morale by showing a commitment to growth within. Employees with great experience may contribute valuable insights and mentorship to newer team members. Also, it simplifies promotion qualifications and helps maintain good structure, predictable career path, thereby contributing to a positive work culture and long term success for the organization.

That's right promoting staff by seniority would be the best bet as it would be beneficial to a company or organisation as it will encourage loyalty by the staff. I totally agree with you when staff in an organisation know that they can stay for a longer time in the company, they could run a managerial position they will be most likely to stay in the organisation.

So with this act promotion of stability is eminnent with the company's staff too.
