The meme coins was listed with the sole intention to make fun of dogecoin. For the most of you who don't know what shiba inu is, it's a ERC-20 only, decentralized crypto currency which was launched in August 2020. The reason of such meme coin listing was to troll dogecoin. Shiba inu is a dog breed mainly famous in Japan. Shiba Inu was given the title of dogecoin killer, as the shiba inu dog breed tends to attack other dogs.
The developer just wanted to troll dogecoin because of doge's ever increasing market share. It lately become famous when Elon musk had created the hype around Doge. Since doge gained, side by side it also showed some unexpected growth. This is the reason behind shiba's popularity. Now shiba also has a market cap worth $3.5 billion USD.
