Why shouldn't you condemn staff before a customer?

We know that the ultimate aim of business is to satisfy customers in order to make profits. Some business owners and superiors, in a bid to make the customers happy would berate and run down their staff in front of the customer. It is wrong. And these are the reasons.

1) You kill the self confidence of the staff when you scold him or her in front of a customer. That staff would not feel safe to use initiative to help the business for fear of that.

2) Customers would lose respect for your staff: When you berate staff before customers, the customers would no longer have respect for the staff. They would disregard the staff and that can lead to toxicity in the workplace.
