There are a number of different reasons why we snore and you might be surprised to learn that almost everybody snores on occasion. There are some of us, however, that tend to snore so loudly and so often that the situation almost becomes chronic. It is not only difficult for those of us who are dealing with snoring because it affects our sleep but it is also difficult for anybody that has to sleep with us. You might be surprised to learn that excess weight on your body is one of the top causes of snoring. Not that the weight causes the snoring but it irritates the situation that exists in many of us.

Snoring is often caused because we either have excess tissue in the area of our throat which blocks our breathing and vibrates or because our throat is being blocked by another issue, such as with our tongue. If we are carrying around excess weight, we will typically have a much more difficult time breathing, both during the day and the specially at night. The weight does not necessarily cause us to snore but it does irritate an existing situation and causes us to snore more.

If we find that we are snoring regularly and we are carrying around additional weight on our body, the only real solution that we have is to lose the weight that we are carrying around. This is typically done through a combination of diet and exercise. Although it certainly is possible for you to lose weight and stop snoring quickly as a result of going on a faddish diet, the results will not typically be long-term. If you want to overcome your snoring problem and lose the weight permanently, you need to go about it systematically and logically.

All of us burn calories for fuel and if we are taking in enough calories during the day, that is what our body is going to use in order to get the energy that it needs. If we reduce our calorie intake with our diet or increase our calorie burn through exercise, we will end up with a calorie deficit at the end of the day. This is truly one of the only ways for you to lose weight safely and permanently. It may take a couple of weeks for you to notice a difference but once you begin losing the weight consistently, the snoring will begin to get better as well.

Getting a little weight may not have anything to do with snoring as it does not have the possibility of affecting the air flow into the body but being overweight and not doing anything about it is what made a lot of people to snore. Yes from research it is possible that weight gain has a lot of things to do with snoring and exercise can be one of the things to prevent is.
