Whether you are a business, individual seller, or a freelancer, you need to have a long term relationship with your client. If you do not have a long term relationship, your revenue and income will not be sustainable. If you want to turn a one-time client into a long-term one, you need to provide extra value with your services or products. Having long-term clients means you will always have work or you will always have sales. If you are a freelancer and have long term clients you won't have to rely on freelancing sites that normally take a big cut of your pay. If you have long term clients, you do not have to depend on ads for sales.
 
Building long term relationships with clients is a deliberate thing that you start with an open communication channel between you and the client. This breeds a sense of honesty and makes the client to trust you enough to consider building a relationship with you. And the way you serve clients also determines if such a client would love to build a relationship with you. When you serve a client with respect and empathy, you lay a foundation for a functional relationship between you and the client.
