What is assistive tech advisors' role in getting assistive tech?

The NDIS participants should rely on your assistive technology advisor's expertise to select a safe and suitable item.
  • The participant's assistive technology advisor must provide an independent advice.
  • The participant's doctor or specialist might have enough knowledge to advise them. However, they often refer them to a more experienced advisor.
  • An assessment from an assistive technology assessor may also be needed.
Assistive technology assessors, who are specialist assistive technology advisors, must:
  • Hold a relevant university degree.
  • Adhere to professional standards set by organisations like the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
