Mental resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and minor failures. It's a skill that everyone can develop, but it's especially important for young people who are growing up in a fast-paced world.
Here are 7 tips for building mental resilience:
1. Be your own best friend.
2. Don't let other people's words affect you or your decisions.
3. Trust yourself, even when others don't see things the same way as you do.
4. Keep calm on the inside, no matter what happens on the outside — be strong and confident!
5. Stay positive and focused on what's good about your life instead of dwelling on everything that's wrong with it!
6. Did something bad happen? Try to think of something positive that happened instead (even if it's just a single thing). The more positive thoughts you have, the more resilient you'll feel when negative things happen too!
7. Watch out for "shoulds" — they make us feel like we're failing if we don't meet them perfectly right away without fail — which makes us feel worse when we do fail at them anyway.
