According to recent reports, the US cryptocurrency exchange Binance had to suspend its activities in Israel, at least temporarily, after a request from the local regulator Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to provide nformation about its licenses as well as about the essence of the services it offers. Apparently CMA demanded that cryptocurrency exchanges on Israeli soil have a local license. They are also the agency issuing the licenses. Binance, however, has no applied for such a license. The company apparently has around 200,000 local customers.

The CMA issued a statement on the matter: “Following the intervention of the capital market, Binance has at this stage stopped marketing to Israelis and all activities focused on Israel until we examine the issue of licensing.”

It would be interesting to see whether they will get a license in the future to continue operating in Israel.
