The Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights are a set of principles adopted by the United Nations in 2011 to provide a framework for how businesses should respect human rights. These principles include:

The State duty to protect human rights
The corporate responsibility to respect human rights
Access to remedy for victims of human rights abuses
The importance of human rights due diligence.



The Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights provide a framework for businesses to respect and support human rights, including the following key points:

States have a duty to protect human rights and provide a safe and enabling environment for businesses to operate in a responsible manner.

Businesses have a responsibility to respect human rights and avoid infringing on the rights of others, regardless of the actions of governments or other third parties.

Businesses should conduct human rights due diligence to identify, prevent and mitigate any potential or actual negative impacts on human rights.

Businesses should provide for or cooperate in the provision of effective remedy for any adverse human rights impacts they have caused or contributed to.

The Guiding Principles emphasize the importance of transparency and accountability in business operations, including the disclosure of information about human rights risks and impacts

The Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights are meant to be a practical guide for businesses, governments, and other stakeholders to help ensure that business operations respect human rights. In addition to the principles outlined previously, some other key aspects of the Guiding Principles include:

1. Integration of human rights into business strategy and operations, to ensure that human rights considerations are an integral part of decision-making processes.
2. Engagement with stakeholders, including affected communities and human rights defenders, to understand and address human rights impacts and risks
