A lot of Business owners usually neglect Business Etiquette in their organization which could have an adverse effect on the growth of their business. There is a famous saying “ Never mix business with pleasure”. A lot of business owners especially those in third world countries like Nigeria do not seem to apply business etiquette in their daily dealings. Business Etiquette are set of rules and guidelines that directs/govern the way business owners interact with employees, customers, clients etc in a business setting. It basically involves two things which are;
• Thoughtful interest in the feelings of others.
• Being able to sort out misunderstandings without escalation.
There are some business etiquette business owners and employees should apply in a business setting. They include;
1. Saying Please, Thank you and Sorry.
2. Listening more than you speak.
3. Do not talk loudly on phone when in public.
4. Make sure phone is switched off at business dinner.
5. Maintaining a level of decorum.
