Geography mobility of labour as a type of mobility of labour is seen as a ease with which workers or labour can move from one location to another in pursuing the same occupation or changing occupation.

So with this ideas in mind we will see the factors affecting geographical mobility of labour which include:

Cost of transportation :
A worker may be able to move from one location to another if the cost of transportation is low. But when it is high, movement becomes difficult.

Accommodation problems:
Workers may not be able to move to new location where there is accommodation problems.

Government policies:
Certain government policies example the establishment of National youth services corps (N. Y. S. C), help deliberately move labour to different states other than their stare of origin.

Social and economic infrastructures:
The availability of social and economic infrastructure example electricity, pipe borne Water and telecommunications do encourage labour to move to places where these infrastructure are available.

Language barrier:
When labour finds it difficult to speak the language of a particular area, it becomes very difficult for them to move to such area.

The factors that is affecting geographical mobility of labour are:

1.Distance is one of the main factors that affects geographical mobility of labour. Distance has an effect on the relationship between employer and employee, which in turn affects the level of pay for the employees.

2.Costs of moving from one place to another are determined by distance, which reduces the cost of travel for workers who are located near each other.

3.People who work in different places will have different working conditions, which affect their choice as to where they want to work or not.

4.The distance between home and workplace also affects workers' satisfaction with wages, because they cannot compare them easily with wages paid at their place of employment or elsewhere in the country or abroad; this leads workers to look for jobs closer to home rather than those further away from their homes; this may cause some problems in personal relationships among workers too.

One if the greatest factors affecting geographical mobility of labour is the availability of jobs in different geographical areas. There are less job opportunities in some places than others, and there are also gaps where one industry is concentrated. This means that factors such as location, the economy and education levels affect whether people relocate to other areas or not.

What do we mean when we talk about geographic mobility ? And why would it matter to you ?
The term “geographic mobility” refers to whether people change their location for reasons such as employment prospects or affordable housing costs .

Is determined by three main criteria :
Geographic mobility is a phenomenon that is both fairly common and fairly predictable. There are over 300 million people living in the United States , which means that more than one person in seven is mobile.More than 60% of the population is embedded in communities defined by where they live, not where they were born or raised. And we know that geographic mobility rates rise with higher education levels and with age .
