Statistics and research has it that the Nigerian mining industry has permitted 10% industrial and economic growth and development in the entire Nigerian economy . Nigeria is blessed with valuable mineral resources and raw materials which is presently contributing over 80% to the gross domestic product . Throughout the years the Nigeria earth soil have accumulated minerals like : petroleum , coal , iron ore , tin , Columbine , limestone , zinc , and lead . This mineral resources are being drilled out from the soil , gotten from the underground rocks and after being sampled and tested thereby passing through various stages of refinement , these minerals are then exported to other countries to make economic profit . The above scenario can make someone to ask him or herself weather the Nigerian mining industry has impacted the well-being of her economy ? Of course it has below are some of these impacts :

REVENUE GENERATION : most mining company either owned by private individuals or by the government pay tax to the government in the form of import and export duties on minerals . And these revenues are used by the government to sponsor other capital projects needed by its citizens to enhance the standard of living .

EMPLOYMENT : the Nigerian mining industry has been a source of job opportunity for inhabitants . in modern times individual go to schools and college of education to be equipped on creative skills a knowledge about mining . And when they graduate they come out as petroleum engineers , civil engineers , and petroleum analyst etc .
