In some organisations, business managers or operational managers end up having problems with the top management or the owner of the company. It can linger on till it gets the manager relieved. As a business manager, what steps can you take to maintain a good stand with owner / senior leadership of the company?

1) Upward Communication: Some of the strains of business relationships between managers and owners is lack of communication. Be sure that with every step you take, you communicate clearly to the owner or top management of the company.

2) Be transparent: You have to be straightforward with the top management or owner of your organisation for the relationship not to be strained. Any sign of dishonesty and the manager is a goner.

3) Deliver Results: As a business manager, you have to deliver results. The board would be happy with you if you deliver results. That's what they're paying you for. No excuses.
