How is Bittorrent Related to Web hosting?

Bittorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing protocol that allows users to distribute large amounts of data across the internet. Bittorrent was developed by programmer Bram Cohen, who designed the protocol with the goal of reducing central bandwidth usage and allowing large files to be shared among many people simultaneously. Because bittorrent clients and trackers are decentralized and allow people to share files directly, they avoid overloading any one server and are better able to consistently provide a high level of bandwidth as bittorrent clients download files.

Its users can download and upload files from other users without having to go through the main server/site. It's great for file sharing, especially large files like movies or music. This also means that users can potentially access copyrighted material for free.

When utilizing this protocol, it is best to host your website with a web hosting provider that has access to multiple bittorrent peers and can provide you with the bandwidth you need. But it comes with some security risks if not managed properly. If a server does not have the proper settings in place, a user could potentially download an infected file and disrupt that server for other users, or even infect other servers.
