In certain parts of the world, Malaria is the most common disease and one of the leading causes of death in children.
It has serious impacts on the mental,. physical and financial well-being of the affected nations. Instead of trying to solve the problem by spending more money all the time on treatment, why not spend such time and efforts on preventative measures?
One of the ways that's highly effective to prevent Malaria is the use of mosquito nets. Like any living organism, starve them of food and they will eventually die. They also have no way to spread the parasite from one person to another without biting people.
Another way is maintaining a clean environment. Like flies, they flourish in areas where there is sufficient breeding grounds for their young. Keeping drainages clean and covered will significantly hinder their reproduction process.
Recently, a full treatment course of three days consisting of Sulphadoxine and Amodiaquine is being prescribed for children 3 months to 5 years as a preventive measure. This has reduced the frequent incidences of Malaria and the associated costs of treatment.
