Some workmates like to take others for a ride.The opportunist most times unwittingly passes the bulk of his work to others They also leave you or others out during important corporate functions to make themselves look good.
These are instances one can easily overlook if it once or twice, but when it becomes incessant then it is time to deal with it.
So how do you deal with this situation
Start with having a private discussion with the workmate. This is to let them know you are aware of their gimmick and they should desist from such.
Start leaving his or her portion of job undone. You need to start showing you wouldn't be covering up no more. This might help the management notice the lapses easily.
if that doesn't still work then you need to escalate the issue by bringing into the issue the manager. Report the case to the appropriate authority for quicj action
