Social media platforms are not the places to dump your pictures, videos, text or links. The purpose of posting on social media is to build engagement. Engagement not only means likes, comments, and share but also product sales or traffic to your sites. The key to build engagement is to have a huge following, however, just because you have following does not mean you will have engagement, you will have to follow certain set of rules.

Publish Visually Appealing Media

Well, you can post texts, however, visual content has better engagement. Visual content means images (graphics, photos) and videos. Visual media has better performance because seeing is believing. People not only like to comment and like visual media more than text but they even like to share or take action (link click, product purchase, etc).

Respond to Your Audience

If you want engagement on your social media content, you should also respond to your audience. You can do this by liking their comment, replying to their comment, and replying to the messages. Social media is a two-way conversation. When you are able to build a two way communication, you will be able to build a community around your content and increase your content reach. You can also encourage audience engagement by tagging them on your thank-you posts.
