To measure retracements in forex trading you have to figure out if we're in a trending market, how to figure this out is to find out if the market is making a series of higher highs and higher lows in an uptrend or a series of lower lows and lower highs in a downtrend.

After that the next thing is to measure retracement levels, there are different ways to do this, you can use a Fibonacci tool and measure the depth of the move, it has different levels like the 33%, 50% and the 68.1%, you can also use Gonna line but most common tool to use is the Fibonacci.

Retracements that are at the 68.1% are the most important zones and you should pay great attention to them, followed by 50% and 33% in that order, so before you enter a trend make sure you measure the retracement level before you take a trade.
