If you can buy it used, go for it. If you're going to buy something new, make sure you have a good reason for doing so. If you just want to get something that's not on sale, don't bother — there are plenty of other places to shop. And if you're going to be tempted by some discount or promotion, remember that the only way to get rid of it is to go back to the store (and pay full price) when it's no longer in stock. That's not a great deal for anyone involved.
