Gambling means you bet your money in a hope to earn profits. There is no guarantee that you will earn. When you run ads, you also invest money in a hope to generate sales, and there is no guarantee that sales will occur. However, investing money in advertising isn't like gambling, it is more like making an investment. Just like any investment, there are risks involved. But if you are not generating sales organically, you can invest in ads and put your product in front of the potential customers. Success of you ads depend on a lot of things, such as target market, product quality, advertising budget etc. Without ads, it could take years to build sales.
