This may occur in the first 2 days of life, if a newborn baby's eyes get red, swell, and have a lot of our in them, this is probably gonorrhea. It must be treated at once yo prevent the baby from going blind. If the eye infection begins between 1 and 3 weeks after birth, she may have chlamydia. The baby has picked up one or both of these diseases from the mother at birth.

Treatment for gonorrhea:
- one can use penicillin

-- Also use tetracycline eye ointment: Put a little in the baby's eyes every hour for the first day, and the 3 times a day for 2 weeks. ( First clean out the pus ).

Treatment for Chlamydia: Treat with tetracycline eye ointment as described above. Also give erythromycin syrup by mouth, 30mg. 4 times a day for 3 weeks.
( This will also treat pneumonia, which often affects babies with chlamyfia)

Prevention:
All babies' eyes should be protected against gonorrhea and chlamydia, especially the eyes if babies whose mother's may have these diseases or whose father's have pain when passing urine .( Mothers may have gonorrhea or chlamydia without knowing it).
The baby's eyes should be wiped clean before the eyes open, that is as soon ad the baby's is born. Once the eyes are open, put a drop of povidone - iodine (Betadine) silver nitrate once only in each eye.
As an alternative used a little 1% tetracycline eye ointment in each eye.
If the baby develops gonorrhea or chlamydia of the eyes, both parents should be treated for gonorrhea and Chlamydia.

I think gonorrhea is a sexual disease. When does it relate to eye as well?

Yh that what am thinking but in that case if a baby has any problem with the eye the baby should be taken care of with immediate effect so as to prevent permanent blind Ness.try going to the doctor so that they will examine the baby and know what to do before it gets worse

What i meant about gonorrhea is that ; whenever the woman is pregnant she should make sure that she treated the gonorrhea if she is infected so that it will not affect the baby.
And to the father if he has gonorrhea he should treat it before having sex with the woman so that the woman will not be infected with gonorrhea.
