ETH tokens on the Kraken platform are on hold until the Shanghai upgrade. People can Stake ETH there, but cannot unstake.
What is Shanghai upgrade?
The Shanghai upgrade is a necessary network step to bring about a fundamental change in the EVM functionality of the Ethereum blockchain, after which the 2.0 version of Ethereum will be released in real form. Additionally another important step is to solve the issue of gas price, which will be taken in Shanghai Upgrade.
Time of next upgrade
There is no fixed time for the new upgrade yet, but according to the Ethereum Foundation, the Shanghai upgrade is likely to take 6 to 12 months after the merger.
Final Conclusion
This means that for Kraken users, their staked Ethereum is stuck for months. Also Kraken users don't need to be upset, it is recommended that users should stake their ETH only if they want to stake for longe term.
