This is a morbid topic but we have to admit that we cannot escape the so called end of life. While still alive, it is our choice on where our remains would go. In our culture it is always the interment to the tomb for the funeral of the dead. But in the recent decades cremation is getting into the picture. Now there are many columbary (or columbarium) that sell or rent out vaults for the urn of the ashes.
Some years back a friend advised us to buy a vault in a nice columbarium because the price will go up after some years. If you have more money you can also buy a memorial lot in the cemetery. The memorial lot and columbarium vault are like real estate now with the market price steadily rising. A few years back we bough 2 vaults in a classy columbarium which is air conditioned. Last year the market value of the vaults have risen to 50% up from the price that we bought. Now we have 4 vaults, 2 are used for the ashes of my parents and my wife’s mother. The remaining 2 can be sold for profit anytime.
