What is scabies: scabies is a medical condition that causes intense itching in the skin caused by tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. Intense itching normally occurs in the skin in individuals that has this disease and it's mostly gets worst at night. Scabies is very contagious and spreads quickly through close contact.
What causes scabies: scabies is caused by a very tiny mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. These mite burrow under the human skin and make eggs and tunnel under the skin. When the egg hatch, the walk through the surface of the skin where they mature and spread to other areas of the skin or to the skin of other people around you through physical contact. Your body respond to this by giving you an allergic reaction to the mites and their egg thereby causing itches and rash like bumps.
How to prevent the spread of scabies: if you have scabies or you know someone who has it avoid close and physical contact with them, avoid borrowing personal materials or clothing from them so as to avoid the spread of scabies. scabies is highly contagious so you should also avoid sharing bed with an infected person. You should also be hygienic and make sure you disinfect your room and clothing to prevent reinfection.
