First of all, you need to be sure what kind of small and medium business you want. Once you have the idea for your business, you can then analyze what skills and knowledge your business idea requires. Alternatively, you can first make a list of skills and knowledge you have and then based on what you know and can do, you can look for ideas. For example, you find print-on-demand idea very lucrative. You can not analyze whether you have marketing and designing skills or not. You can go ahead if you have these skills. Likewise, you know web development skills, based on your skills, you can start your web design business
