Customer segmentation means finding who your customers are. Customer segmentation, sometimes also called market segmentation, is very important aspect of marking plan. Customer segmentation helps in a lot of things from building a brand to generating sales. Some of the key customer segmentation areas are:

Geographical Segmentation: Learning about your customers’ location

Demographic Segmentation: Learning about your customers (age, gender, religion, income status.etc.)

Psychographic Segmentation: Learning about lifestyle, interest, etc.

Behavioral Segmentation: Learning about customers’ spending habit, brand conscious, purchasing habit, etc.

Media segmentation: Learning about the media platform that your customers use.

Benefit Segmentation: Learning about the kind of customer service they are looking for, finding their choice of payment and delivery services, etc.

Customer segmentation is another name for market segmentation. Customer segmentation, or market segmentation, is the process to find out about your potential customers in relation to your products and services. By doing market segmentation, you will be able to find out who is going to buy your product and how much sales you can generate.

Yes, these are very important if you are trying to build a marketing plan. Well, small businesses may not afford to hire a marketer to create a proper marketing plan, so these steps may never be used for small businesses, but all the big businesses use these tactics to build brand loyalty and generate sales.
