What is success defined by?

I once went to a business meeting and one of the speakers said something that got me thinking. He said success is not about what you have achieved, neither is it about what you currently earn. He said success is defined by the amount of people you have trained under you to be able to produce positive results for you even in your absence.
What is your take in this?
