Why a modelling career won't work in Nigeria and Africa.

It is true that the African way of life is different from the western world. Our belief systems, our thoughts process are all different. That's why there are things that gain traction in the western world but won't even move a morsel over here in Africa. One of those things is the modelling profession. I have read about career models in the USA like Naomi Campbell et all. In Nigeria and Africa, if you want to take modelling as a career, you are bound to fail. The closest we have to models are actors/ actresses, music artistes and footballers.

For you to hear of a career model, it is very rare in Africa. The few ones that try to spring up soon fade into oblivion. I don't know the possible causes of this. I think it is cultural though. If anyone you know is aspiring to be a model in Nigeria, just tell him/ her that it can't work.

From what i have seen in the modeling sector here in Africa, most people usually tend to associate modeling with prostitution. I came across a woman some years back who said her son would never marry a model, simply cause the son told her, his current girlfriend has plans of trying out modeling. Due to this mindset, a lot of persons do not take modeling here in Africa seriously. Even the modeling events that comes up within the country, they do not have enough sponsors to actually make these models go big. I don't really know how true this beliefs are but truth be told, anything is possible. I have heard some cases of models being used as escort for big men. Then again i don't know how true this is.

A modelling career can be a great way to make money and gain recognition in many countries around the world, however, it is not as easy to make it in Nigeria and Africa as it is in other parts of the world. The main reason for this is the lack of infrastructure and resources in the region.

Unlike other countries, where there are dedicated modelling agencies that provide training, resources, and support to aspiring models, Nigeria and the African continent lack these services. This makes it difficult for aspiring models to find modelling opportunities, as many of the modelling jobs are either in the hands of a few people or requires a lot of money to be invested in order to secure the job.

Furthermore, the modelling industry in Nigeria and Africa is not as well-developed as it is in other parts of the world. There is often a lack of quality photographers, makeup artists, and other professionals that are necessary for a successful modelling career. This makes it difficult for aspiring models to find the right resources and gain the necessary experience to become successful in the modelling industry.

Finally, there is also a lack of recognition for models in Nigeria and Africa. Many of the international modelling agencies overlook models from this region due to the lack of exposure and experience, which makes it difficult for aspiring models to make a name for themselves.

For these reasons, a modelling career can be a difficult and unrewarding endeavour in Nigeria and Africa. Therefore, aspiring models should carefully consider their options and the obstacles they may face before embarking on a modelling career in this region.
