People must now use cryptocurrency to purchase NFTs on platforms like OpenSea. Coinbase and Mastercard are collaborating to allow consumers to purchase NFTs on Coinbase's future NFT platform using Mastercard cards.

In one simple interface, you can access the world's most popular cryptocurrencies with minimal fees and social trading features.

Buying NFTs, according to Mastercard, should be as simple as buying a t-shirt online. However, it stated that consumers must first open a crypto wallet, purchase cryptocurrency, and then use that cryptocurrency to purchase an NFT on an online marketplace.

"We're delighted to announce today that we're teaming with Coinbase to allow customers can use their Mastercard cards to make purchases on Coinbase's future NFT marketplace," Mastercard stated in a statement.

In October, Coinbase announced the launch of its NFT marketplace. It will enable people to mint and purchase NFTs. At the time, the company also launched a queue for consumers to join the marketplace, which received a huge response. The Coinbase NFT marketplace has more over one million users.

"For a large number of people, Coinbase was essentially a crypto onramp. Coinbase enabled millions of individuals to gain access to bitcoin for the first time. So, with Mastercard, we want to do the same thing for NFTs by addressing the pain points making it as simple as possible to acquire an NFT and ensuring the greatest possible consumer experience "Prakash Hariramani, Coinbase's senior director of product, said as much.
