How To Stop Discrimination When It Comes To Employment?

Humans beings are designed by Allah Almighty to seek employment and feed their families. We all work and we need money in order to survive. Each and every person on this planet has the right to seek job. However, when it comes to finding the right job, there are many things that might become an obstacle. For example, many people never get a job due to age problems and a lack of qualifications. While some problems could be justified, there are a few other problems that could never be accepted at all! I am talking about discriminating between candidates based on their religion, race, cast, gender, community, etc.

Such kind of discrimination is a very big problem even in many developed countries. This is because discrimination is present in all the countries and this problem also leads to unemployment. I am sure that there are many organizations in the world that are fighting for the rights of people in order to end discrimination. However, they are yet to successfully stop such kind of discrimination. While the efforts of many organizations should be appreciated, what steps could we people personally take in order to stop discrimination in the world of career and jobs?

There will always be issue of discrimination when it comes to business for some reasons or the other. Nepotism and favoritism have always been the major reasons why people discriminate. Though this has caused major issue when it comes to progress in the workplace. Most people that are not competent are put in a place just because they are related to the human resource manager or even have direct link with the owner of the business.

This is common like for example the doctor or human resource wants to employ his daughter for a discount for the medical treatment as an example even his daughter isn't competent at all.

The big issue here is that problems become worse when such people, who discriminate against people, are put in power. This leads to many problems. Racial discrimination is something that is prevalent in many government departments in my country. When the corrupt person is made in charge, he or she usually uses power to select people of their own community. This also leads other people to become racist in return and start discriminating against others as a result. In short, discrimination could create disorder in society and this is not good for the development or betterment of any society and economy of a country may also suffer due to such consequences. I think when we feel that we are being discriminated, we should raise voice and most sensible people of the society would support us.

Discrimination in employment does exist despite the presence of constitutional provisions and anti-discrimination laws. Companies and their management can usually just get away with violations in this regard through subtle means. For example, a homophobic manager may simply present economic reasons for not regularizing or promoting a gay employee. A recruitment manager may also choose a candidate over another for religious reasons without being obvious about the basis for selection. In such cases, the victim of discrimination will find it difficult to present evidence to prove that it actually happened. Thankfully, there are still companies and institutions that will value our qualifications if we actually have them. Otherwise, we can think about establishing our own businesses and focusing our skills and knowledge on its growth.

Well it depends on how you view it, the mindset is what actually matters, so many people would see it and consider it as discrimination but to the person doing it, he or she might say they have a reason for it. Normally religion should not be an issue when it comes to selecting a job cause as human you are entitled to freedom of any religion of your choice. But the manager might see it as something else and give reasons why he would not take it. For example an employee might not want to hire a Muslim person with the reason being that their daily prayers and Friday prayers would affect the production process. You might see this as discrimination but you to him it's just his terms and conditions.
